ECCU: An Introduction to Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound

This College of Emergency Medicine approved one day course is aimed at clinicians wanting to introduce ultrasound into their clinical practice. 

This course has been designed for all doctors in acute care e.g Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery. It provides the core knowledge for the College of Emergency Medicine Level 1 and is applicable to other 'Acute Care' specialties.

During the day, we will cover

  • The physics of ultrasound
  • Instrumentation
  • Abdominal Aorta ultrasound
  • Trauma (FAST) ultrasound
  • Cardiac & Thoracic ultrasound
  • IVC (Shock) ultrasound
  • Vascular access
  • Training and logbooks

Emergency Ultrasound UK is the home of quality ultrasound training for acute care clinicians.  Our courses are run from venues in Cambridge, Ipswich and the Netherlands and are delivered by practicing acute care clinicians many years of ultrasound experience. Our experienced faculty include consultants in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Radiology and Sonography from around the UK. 

Our course directors are based at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust.  

Using a combination of interactive lectures and hands-on workstations, this course will teach the basics of Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound, and give you the confidence to start practicing.
