An Introduction to Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound

This College of Emergency Medicine approved one day course is aimed at clinicians wanting to introduce ultrasound into their clinical practice. 

This course has been designed for all doctors in acute care e.g Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery. It provides the core knowledge for the College of Emergency Medicine Level 1 and is applicable to other 'Acute Care' specialties.

During the day, we will cover

  • The physics of ultrasound
  • Instrumentation
  • Aortic scanning
  • FAST scanning
  • Cardiac & Thoracic ultrasound
  • Vascular access
  • Training and logbooks

The faculty includes Consultants in Radiology and Emergency Medicine with extensive experience in the practice and teaching of Emergency Ultrasound.  Using a combination of interactive lectures and hands-on workstations, this course will teach the basics of Emergency Ultrasound, and give you the confidence to start practicing.
