Independent Practice and Certification


In Canada, training in PoCUS is provided using several curricula including those from the Royal College, the College of Family Physicians, CEUS, CAEP and local university programs.

 

In Canada, Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certification is provided by the Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society (CEUS). Attending a recognized introductory Emergency Ultrasound course is a required first step in attaining the status of
Core Independent Practitioner (core IP).

 

 

The International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) has published guidance on training, certification, and maintenance of competency for point of care ultrasound (PoCUS).
